In October 2025, the Suzhou Municipal Administration for Market Regulation (Intellectual Property Office) worked with the Suzhou branch of PICC Property and Casualty Company Limited to help two companies sign the first overseas IP rights-protection insurance policies in Suzhou, Anhui Province. Suzhou Hengchang Biotechnology Co., Ltd. was among the first policyholders.
This coverage helps protect the company's products and services as they enter overseas markets. If the company encounters an overseas intellectual property dispute, it can receive financial support under the policy, effectively reducing the cost of defending its rights and strengthening its confidence in responding to such disputes.
The signing builds on the foreign-related intellectual property protection service system that Suzhou has developed in recent years: the city has established 19 rights-protection assistance institutions and one guidance workstation for responding to overseas intellectual property disputes, integrating inquiry intake, dispute mediation, and overseas rights-protection response functions. The launch of this insurance is one outcome of the city's ongoing efforts to make its intellectual property protection mechanisms more effective.
